Driveways Completed With Exceptional Craftsmanship

Failure to Plan is Planning to Fail

We know that when people are looking to invest in their home and have a driveway installed, they do not want their driveway to look good for 2 years and then show significant signs of settlement and wear. You want a driveway that will add aesthetic value to your home and stand the test of time. That is where we come in. We are consistent overachievers and believe in over-engineering your driveway so that it could have a semi-truck parked on it and not settle. We plan for long-term success, and our practice is exceptional; we do not cut corners.

Proper Excavation and Site Planning

With both safety and project longevity at the forefront of our process, we are notorious for over-engineering our driveways to avoid settlement and tire rutting. Beginning with excavation, we dig a minimum of 15" from the top of the grade and extend the base 16" on all sides. Then, we run a diesel packer that can compact up to 24 inches at a time over the subgrade, the base materials, and our bedding material to maximize particle lockup.

Base Materials Matter

Our base materials are set on top of a non-woven and permeable geotextile to separate our base and the subgrade. Then we typically add 11" of 3/4" crushed angular stone, which is fully permeable and comes at 98% Proctor Compaction Rating, followed by our 1" bedding layer of High-Performance Bedding (HPB - 1/8") Stone, also fully permeable. These base materials will not degrade over time and, with proper compaction practices, will stand the test of time. We also use a fibre-reinforced concrete edge restraint to lock in the interlock border and the bedding layer to ensure no base materials settle and disperse due to vehicle weight.

Not all Materials can Withstand Vehicles

Not all interlock is created equal. We always advise using interlock that is a minimum of 3-3/8" in thickness and driveway-rated. If you would like porcelain, we always advise pouring a concrete base for the porcelain to create a strong and durable driveway.
